Calahan Foundation
League of College Scholars Fund
At the heart of the Calahan Foundation’s work are three transformative scholarships that do more than fund education. They invest in futures.
Each year, we award $5,000 scholarships to 10–12 new scholars. In addition to financial support, scholars receive intentional mentorship, personalized guidance, and access to a lifelong network that extends well beyond college graduation.
-
The Edward and Shirley Calahan Scholarship supports high-achieving students who have demonstrated academic excellence while navigating significant financial barriers to higher education.
-
The Hadiya Pendleton "Stop the Violence" Scholarship honors the life of a young woman lost to gun violence. This scholarship is awarded to a scholar who has been personally impacted by gun violence or is actively committed to ending it.
-
The Missionary Patricia Harris Scholarship recognizes students who are deeply rooted in community service and dedicated to strengthening their local communities.

The number of scholarships awarded each year is made possible entirely through fundraising and the generosity of supporters like you. Every dollar contributed is an investment in the education, leadership, and future impact of a promising young leader.

Calahan League of College Scholars
(CLoCS) Mentor Program
The CLoCS Mentor Program is designed to expand our scholars’ vision, confidence, and access. Each month, respected professionals, community leaders, and accomplished changemakers lead intentional one-hour mentorship sessions that expose scholars to new ideas, career pathways, and leadership perspectives.

More than guest speakers, our mentors provide real-world insight, honest conversations, and practical guidance that scholars can immediately apply to their academic and personal journeys. Sessions are structured around four core pillars:

-
Education – Academic excellence, college persistence, and career readiness
-
Personal Growth – Identity development, resilience, financial literacy, and life skills
-
Leadership Development – Communication, decision-making, and leading with integrity
-
Civic Engagement – Community impact, social responsibility, and advocacy

Through this immersive mentorship experience, scholars build confidence, expand their networks, and develop the tools necessary to thrive beyond college.
